Uninstall the Xbox app from the Gear VR menu. Uninstall Minecraft from the Gear VR menu. I was in an endless loop of being instructed to remove my phone to sign in and when I did, either nothing happened or I was told to put my phone back in to use the app, only for the loop to start again. Anyways. I'm not saying this is definitive but it is what worked for me, so it's worth a try if you're struggling. Now if you go back to Oculus installer the "Oculus Media Plugin" should be in blue, as the installer will think it was installed sucessfully.After countless frustrating hours of messing about trying to get this to work, I finally managed to find a solution. While the installer is downloading the package, switch screens and click on the downloaded APK to install it. You should have "media plugin" + the other app you uninstalled listed here, click "install" Now put your phone in the headset again so that it launch the oculus / Gear VR welcome installer Download "Oculus Media Plugin APK" but don't install it yet, I took the one from upToDown : Uninstall some oculus app (not all of them, just the main occulus app is enough, it's just so that the installer spend some time downloading it while you install the Media Plugin APK) Thanks for the link, someone actualy found a workaround on this thread : īasically you have to launch the oculus installer and while it's installing some other oculus app you install Oculus Media Plugin: To find APK's use the following Telegram channel called GearVR Backups (I have not tested this) you can use the Gala Launcher from url and it will run a launcher that you can use to open any of your VR apps. You will be able to open any VR apps from there thta you have previously installed via APK method! Now if you go on your app drawer from your homescreen you will see "Gear VR Service".
